Mature cats getting along?

I was reading rather a worrying article claiming that when cats reached social maturity aged 2-4 years they may not get along anymore and become very territorial and might spray and fight even if neutered.

Do any of you with multiple cats have that issue? Harry is more solitary now he is older, but still gets on with the others. He only occasionally snuggles with one of the others now, usually Thomas Leo. He still helps the others groom their ears.

Reuben is nearly two, Thomas Leo one and Filipos 11 months. I so hope they will continue to get along as they are such a happy group at the moment. Thomas Leo is so gentle,it is hard to imagine him ever territorial, Reuben can be a bit, Filipos is ultra confident but defers if the older ones want him too.

Usually just the three younger ones use the cat tree.

More Photos

Mostly photos and videos of the boys outdoors or snuggling, an unlucky baby bird that was in my front garden and Reuben "Helping" my cleaning lady. We spent a good hour outside today, but it was too hot for me even in the evening. Only one more hot day is forecast. I overslept, but the boys were ever so good. It is hard to photo Filipos out of doors, he rarely keeps still and runs at a speed I am sure would beat Ursain Bolt if they had a race! They are all on the cat tree tonight save Harry who is on my bed.

The Fence

As I've talked so much about it here is the fence. The only place without wire is where the holly bush is, which Reuben falls off if he tries to climb. I'm so hoping it will work this time!

Reuben is not pleased at all!

I hope and pray they stay safe while having fun outdoors. I insist on the yard not being cleared up or the grass removed so the cats have more fun.

Filipos goes out

I've decided to let Filipos go out as long as I am with him. He is as excited as a small child and ran round the yard meowing loudly and jumping around and playing chase with Thomas Leo. He was good at coming in, though.(I wonder how long that will last.) I was going to keep him in yesterday as it was chilly, but he meowed so much I relented and donned my thick coat. Today was both dull and cold so we all stayed in and Filipos has sat by the heater.

It is hard to get good photos as he won't keep still. Hence the videos.

I'm puzzled for if I put a video on FB, lots of folk watch it, but few people seem to watch videos on LJ.

Beautiful Harry

He really comes alive to take photos of outside.

He is sitting on my lap as I type which is quite unusual for him. Last night he groomed Filipos.

Reading

I haven't been reading much recently. My ancient Kindle has been playing up so I got a new second-hand one which hopefully will keep the battery charge better.

I read a detective story called "Mersey Marriner" by Brian L Porter. It is free on amazon.

I've mixed feelings about it. The writing was rather repetitive with a lot of info dumping. Also unresolved plot details, such as the detective spent several chapters with health worries which were then never mentioned again. Then the doctor he visited did none of the recommended things!

The plot was gripping but convoluted and rather far-fetched.

I did like the characters though and loved the Mersey setting as I know the Liverpool waterfront quite well.

An entertaining freebie most recommended for folk who love the Mersey
