The last month's theme were Beginnings. And so, in December it's time for Endings, because those two themes are always connected - when something is ending, something else is beginning.
It's not only the ending of the year that is nearing, but also the ending of the Hobbit trilogy. It will be the last time in a long while when we get a new glimpse of Tolkien's wonderful world on the big screen. It may be just an echo of its greatness in his books, which are just an echo of his amazing imagination, but still I'm sure many of us feel like something is ending - especially when listening to http://youtu.be/q8ir8rVl2Z4 http://youtu.be/q8ir8rVl2Z4. With this Teitho challenge, we want to honor that moment in Tolkien fandom.
When something is ending, it rarely leaves you without feeling something. It may be a bittersweet feeling and reminiscing on the gone times, but it can also be relief, when it's the ending of something dark. It can be even both in the same time, like the ending of the Third age, with the Dark Lord defeated, but Elves leaving Middle-earth. In your story, it can be the ending of an era, but also of something in the life of the main characters. It can be the day when they realized that their childhood has ended, or the day when they had to say goodbye to someone loved. Death is an ending as well, but so is the ending of a story, of a day, or a sword lesson - there are many kind of endings, some grave and important, some not so much. You can write about or draw any of them.
The deadline (or ending) for this challenge is December 25th, but can be extended until the end of the month. If you need an extension to finish your story or picture, just write to the email below!
For writers: send your stories to teitho.contest@gmail.com mailto:teitho.contest@gmail.com. The contest is anonymous and the story can't be posted publicaly until the results of the challenge are announced. Aragorn or Legolas don't have to be main characters, but at least one of them must be mentioned in the story.
For artists: Submit your picture into the Teitho gallery folder of Arda-Inspired http://arda-inspired.deviantart.com/ at deviantArt. The picture should be new, drawn specifically for the challenge. State that you are submitting it to the contest in the artist's comments.
