As we come to the end of each year, we think back on the highs and the lows;
what we thought we'd do, and what we actually accomplished. We think especially
of people we lost;through death, divorce, or misunderstanding. We remember
our last conversations with them ; what we said and what we would say if
we could call back those moments. In hindsight, we know what our last words to
them should have been. That is the theme for this month's Teitho challenge:
"Last Words".
Gandalf's last words in Middle-earth were "I will not say do not weep for not
all tears are an evil." He knew he was departing Middle-earth and who he was
leaving behind. His words were well chosen. It's likely that the last words
between Legolas and Thranduil were well planned as well, but what were they? Did
Arwen, wandering an abandoned Lothlorien, wish she'd said something more before
parting forever from her Elessar? And what of those like Arathorn who
didn't know they wouldn't be coming home again?
So many times we wish we'd said more or parted without impatient words. This is
your chance to make it right; or not ; for someone in Middle-earth.
As always, writers must include Legolas or Aragorn in their story, but they do
not have to be the main characters. This requirement does not apply to artwork.
The deadline for this challenge is December 25th.
