Arathorn slumped down by the hearth and wearily tugged at his boots. He sighed. The Orcs were growing bolder by the day. He had lost another good man while driving them away from the village.

His lady hastened to his side, bringing wine to refresh him. He greeted her with a tired smile.

Then like a whirlwind, a little boy emerged from the inner chamber. His face alight with joy, Aragorn cried “Ada!” and laughed as he scrambled happily onto his father’s lap..

Arathorn’s face lit up. “Our child has a merry heart indeed, Gilraen. Long may it continue so!”
