Farawyn regarded the frozen lake Nenuial dubiously. Her brother was already sliding across the across the icy surface. Aragorn lingered at the edge. “Come on!” he coaxed. “Let us go skating. You will enjoy it once you try.”
“I am scared, ada,” said the little girl. “Will we not drown?”
“Girls!” snorted Eldarion.
Aragorn firmly grasped her hand. “You will not doubt slip and slither as you learn, child, but I will keep you safe.”
Farawyn held on tightly and tried her first tentative steps. By sunset she was gliding gracefully across the ice with her father, laughing in delight.
