The Star

A/N Yet another look at my favourite moment in LOTR, this time inspired by [info]altariel 's stunning new story "Withered Tree", a must read if you've not read it already.

Title: The Star
Author: Linda Hoyland
Characters/Pairing: Aragorn,Faramir
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Book/Source: LOTR book-verse

Darkness enshrouded him. Thick choking darkness. Light, life, and hope all lost in this abyss. Faramir’s strength failed him; death would come soon.

Then he saw it; a single star, faint and far away, glowing with a green hued light. Even so faint a light renewed his spirit. The light grew brighter, bathing him in a cool green radiance.

Beneath the star stood a man, a stranger yet familiar. Softly he called Faramir’s name and bade him come.

Hope sprang anew. Faramir grasped the stranger’s outstretched hand. Darkness gave way to light.

Faramir would follow this star wherever it led.
