Faramir considered himself the most fortunate of men. He was married to the fairest of ladies, was father to children he adored, and served a King whom he loved and admired.
Yet when the King of Rohan came to visit Éowyn, or the Elven twins Elladan and Elrohir came to call upon the King, sometimes he would grow sad and a far away look come into his eyes.
Perceiving his sorrow, Aragorn said “How you must miss Boromir! I grew up wishing I had a sister or brother.”
Then Faramir pitied his lord. He had known a brother’s love once.
