“I don’t want to ride my pony any longer!” cried Eldarion. “I want to ride Roheryn. I’m a big boy now! Ponies are for babies.”

“And Roheryn is a great horse that only a man can ride,” said Aragorn.” He has weathered many battles and will suffer only a seasoned warrior on his back.” As if to prove his master’s point, the mighty warhorse whinnied and reared, showing his great hooves.

“He would throw you,” Aragorn warned. “Then you would break a bone and be confined to your bed.”

“I think I will ride my pony after all,” said Eldarion.

For my friends who wanted me to write something about Aragorn visiting the North as King.

Farawyn regarded the frozen lake Nenuial dubiously. Her brother was already sliding across the across the icy surface. Aragorn lingered at the edge. “Come on!” he coaxed. “Let us go skating. You will enjoy it once you try.”

“I am scared, ada,” said the little girl. “Will we not drown?”

“Girls!” snorted Eldarion.

Aragorn firmly grasped her hand. “You will not doubt slip and slither as you learn, child, but I will keep you safe.”

Farawyn held on tightly and tried her first tentative steps. By sunset she was gliding gracefully across the ice with her father, laughing in delight.
