A Mystery

Yesterday, I looked out of the window and saw a group of lights above the houses opposite. They weren't moving and reminded me of a multi-light Christmas decoration.

I took my camera and stood on the doorstep and when I zoomed in, all the lights merged together. Has anyone any idea what this is? It certainly wasn't the moon or a plane.
