One of the most primeval sensations, pain evolved to signalize that something is wrong with our bodies, and we should seek a way to amend it - which is not always possible. And so, while it's useful for the survival of mankind, dealing with it can be hard and unpleasant.
Whether the pain is physical or emotional, people differ by their tolerance of it, and the ways they deal with it. The differences are also between the races of Middle-earth: Elves, Men, Dwarves, Hobbits, Orcs, Ents...
This month, we are looking for the classical hurt-comfort stories, but not only that. It can deal with many different aspects of pain: overcoming it or submitting to it, avoiding, witnessing, causing or enduring it, being able to soothe it or not, pain with or without meaning...
The deadline for this challenge is June 25th, but can be extended until the end of the month. If you need an extension to finish your story or picture, just write to the email below!
For writers: send your stories to firstname.lastname@example.org. The contest is anonymous and the story can't be posted publicly until the results of the challenge are announced. Aragorn or Legolas don't have to be main characters, but at least one of them must be mentioned in the story.
For artists: Submit your picture into the Teitho gallery folder of Arda-Inspired at deviantArt. The picture should be new, drawn specifically for the challenge. State that you are submitting it to the contest in the artist's comments.
